Thursday 19 May 2022

An update on our fantastic evening when we hosted Matt Le Tissier and other Ex-Saints players (who won 4 – 2 v our Portland Old Boys) at the end of April. Just over 800 came to visit Portland Utd FC, watch football, have their programmes signed and contributed towards raising £8,800 – yes, £8,800 towards our charities on the night: Southampton Children’s Charities / The Three Ells Trust and Cancer Research UK. Thank you all so much. What a night to showpiece our lovely club! Watch this space next year! Many thanks to Ian Middlebrook for his usual quality photos.

Portland United FC are very proud of their Under 18 Youth team who, in their first season, have finished runners up in the Dorset League (West). Due to the success of the Pathway and the number of Youth players who have already progressed into our Reserve and First Team, we are now looking for new players to add to the squad for the 2022/23 season, when we will also be entering the FA Youth Cup. We will be holding open trials for any players who may be interested, aged 15-17. These trials will take place on 𝟏𝟔𝐭𝐡 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝟑𝟎𝐭𝐡 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞. We are pleased to be able report that many of last season’s Youth team have progressed into Men’s football and gained valuable experience with the Reserves in the DPL, with a significant number of those youngsters also being included in the First Team squad at times. The Club’s Pathway has been extremely rewarding for everyone involved and the Club are very proud to demonstrate a Pathway into Adult football for ambitious, young, local players. The Club are very keen to continue to grow links with the local community and to continue to attract more young, local players to the Club in the long term. To register an interest in the trials, please send an email to - secretary@portlandunitedfc.uk. To share, please visit our facebook page. The Club would also like to say a huge THANK YOU to the Team Sponsors; Budgens and Portland Stone.
